JOB POSTING: Intern – Sales / Business Development

SwifTAG Systems is looking for a sales intern, to help market and sell hardware and software in the laboratory animal science monitoring market. It’s an exciting opportunity to work with a growing AlphaLab Gear startup company in Pittsburgh! The ideal candidate is looking for startup experience, thrives in an environment where they can take charge, are eager to learn, and can communicate exceptionally well. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. – We cannot sponsor work visas or provide relocation. Remote work possible. This is a temporary position for up to one semester.

SwifTAG Systems mission is to bring high technology and medical research together to drive down costs and increase the time researchers spend doing actual research, not focused on logistics. As a member of our sales team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with our customers in this growing market.

Responsibilities may include any of the following:

Identify and research and contact potential customers, lead generation and conversion

Gather useful information from customer and competitor data

Be knowledgeable about and be able to answer questions about the products

Contact new and existing customers to discuss needs

Emphasize the features of products to highlight how they solve customer problems

Collaborate with colleagues

Maintain contacts, deals and notes in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system A qualified candidate will exhibit most of the characteristics below:

Passion and interest in working for early-stage startups and business-to-business (B2B) sales

Impeccable verbal and written communication skills, especially persuasion

Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, email, calendar, & CRM software

Customer service skills to listen to customer concerns and be able to address their needs

Interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of people each day

Self confidence to succeed in cold-calling customers and making a sale

Education and experience required:

Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in business, marketing or communication. Bonus points for the following:

Ideally 3+ years’ proven work experience in sales/business development.

Salary:  $15-$20/hour depending on experience.
