Manufacturing Engineer

Company Overview

A growing spin-off from a global leader in high-pressure equipment and process engineering has an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a team that is rapidly expanding its core technologies into new energy applications. The company specializes in the design, development and commercialization of novel, green processes that improve energy efficiency and make alternative forms of energy cost effective.  

Summary of Position

This position entails all facets of mechanical engineering: heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, stress analysis, mechanics, materials, and controls.  Combine basic engineering calculations with mechanical engineering software tools to produce and analyze new and existing designs.  Work with manufacturing groups to complete design, assembly, testing and installation. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Evaluate, analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes.
  • Research, design, test and implement manufacturing processes for new products.
  • Work with outside vendors to implement and test existing and new manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare product and process manufacturing reports.
  • Conduct quality control programs.
  • Design products for manufacturability.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors or masters degree in mechanical engineering or similar degree with a minimum 5 years of experience.
  • CAD/CAM, 2D and 3D solid modeling experience such as SolidWorks or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work both independently and in team environments.

Preferred Characteristics

  • Hands-on experience assembling and testing mechanical and heat exchanger systems.
  • Designing, installing, and implementing automation equipment.

  • Brazing
  • Diffusion bonding
  • Fixture support design
  • Laser cutting
  • Water jet cutting          
  • EDM machining
  • CNC machining
  • High temperature brazing (silver soldering)
  • Vision systems
  • Pick and place systems
  • Chemical etching
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Experience in new product development and project management.
  • Self-starter who enjoys working in a small company environment with a wide degree of creativity and opportunity for growth working and developing new technologies.
