Position Overview:
The PMO Director will be responsible for establishing and leading the Project Management Office, providing strategic direction, guidance, and oversight to projects. Reporting to the CSOO, the PMO Director will play a critical role in driving project excellence, ensuring project delivery aligns with organizational goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain the Project Management Office (PMO), including defining PMO processes, standards, and best practices.
- Develop and implement project management methodologies, tools, and templates to support project execution and delivery.
- Serve as an organization’s sole project manager, planning, managing, monitoring, and controlling key projects as well as provide mentorship, and support to peers and project teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee project portfolio management, including project prioritization, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
- Monitor project performance and progress, identifying and addressing issues, risks, and dependencies.
- Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Maintain enterprise project dashboards and metrics.
- Lead project reviews and post-implementation assessments to evaluate project outcomes and identify lessons learned.
- -Lead process improvement initiatives to adopt best practices across the organization.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align project management efforts with organizational strategy and goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., project management, business administration, engineering). MBA desirable.
- Proven experience establishing a PMO, with a track record of successfully managing an enterprise portfolio of complex projects and programs.
- PMI PMP, PMO, PgM, or equivalent certification with proven experience in project management.
- Previous experience in a leadership or management role, with demonstrated ability to build, develop, and motivate high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding and experience with project management methodologies and metrics (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Critical Chain) and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Planview, SciForma, Primavera).
